Home Liquid Damage 727-389-6901

We take no responsibility for devices damaged by customers attempting to follow any of the directions below, so please proceed at your own risk.

The smartest thing you can do if your phone, tablet, or other device gets wet is take out the battery immediately & leave it out until the device can be treated professionally. Hitting liquid is not going to drain your battery, so do not think that because your phone will not turn on that the battery needs charged. Charging your liquid damaged device is the easiest way to take it from repairable to irreparable very quickly.

If it's an iPhone, or a device whose battery is not easily removed, do not try to take it apart. Turn it off & get it to a professional immediately before corrosion sets in. Water conducts electricity, so you do not want any power to the device unless you want that electricity going to the wrong place & burning the components. A little bit of liquid can start corrosion, & it will continue to get worse if left untreated.

If you cannot get the device to us immediately, there are a couple steps you can take to try to preserve it until you can get it to a pro. Remember, as soon as the components of a device hit liquid, corrosion starts, so it will need professional treatment. If the device was fully submerged, pouring distilled water over it can help, particularly when salt water or sugar is involved. Vacuum the device’s  holes, then put it in front of a fan to help dry it. If it's an iPhone or other device without an easily removable battery, remove the SIM tray, vacuum the hole, & then point a fan toward that hole and leave it there for a day or so. If it's a cheap phone and you have nothing meaningful or important in it, go ahead and try the rice at your own risk. But if it's a Smartphone or tab or contains data you prefer not to lose, it's not worth damaging the device beyond repair over poor advice. Rice can help dehumidify the air, but keep in mind that if the rice is not touching the liquid, it is not absorbing the liquid.

The longer that liquid stays there, the more damage it does. The longer the damage is left untreated, the worse it gets. We do not stop at cleaning & drying the device. We treat it to try to prevent future corrosion and thoroughly test it before putting it back in the hands of its owner. While there can never be guarantees with liquid damaged electronics, Hassle Free Cell Phone Repair’s process gives you a much better chance of having a working device in the end.
